Is Your Story too Dirty for Redemption?

Because of our story, we are often told similar stories of others. Some stories we hear are almost unbelievable. Here is one of the craziest stories we have heard...

This young man was a well-known, wealthy, church-goer, and he lived in an affluent neighborhood in a large city. He lived next door to a close friend who was a newlywed. The young man decided to take a lengthy sabbatical from his high-paying job primarily because he was tired of working. This irresponsible decision led to boredom at home, and ultimately more poor choices.

In his boredom he discovered that his upstairs window had a perfect view of his neighbor's pool. He began to desperately seek out opportunities to watch his friends wife sun bathe next-door. It all seemed pretty harmless until he got up the nerve to invite his friend's wife over while the friend was away on a business trip. One thing led to another and the two experienced a physical relationship while his friend was out of town. When the friend returned from his business trip, life went on as normal…

Until one day when the friend’s wife knocked on the door and informed the young man that she was pregnant with his baby. The secret couple was hoping that their lies and betrayal would remain hidden, and that everyone would just assume that the child belonged to the husband. But the young man eventually decided that he could not take that risk, so he arranged for an accident while his friend was away on another business trip. The accident took the life of his friend. The secret couple was then able to marry, have their child, and begin a life together.

You are probably wondering if the young man's devious schemes were ever discovered and if he went to prison. He did not. His life certainly was not without consequences that resulted from his actions. But, he genuinely repented to God of his sins and went on to have a successful political career. He also became a famous writer and musician. He was widely known as "a man after God's own heart." His name was King David.

God redeemed King David's story. God redeemed our story. God can redeem your story.
