Teenager Today

February 18, 2015

I know this is a marriage blog, so I'll do my best to relate this special day to marriage. Today is special because it is our oldest son's birthday. It is even more special because today he turned 13. Today he is a teenager.

Not every marriage has children, and many marriages will never have children. But, the majority of marriages have children. Amazing blessings from God. Probably the single greatest change to a marriage happens when the first child comes along. Your marriage, your whole world, is never the same. Sleepless nights, dirty diapers, doctor visits...lead to school, sleepovers, ballgames...lead to...a teenager?

There are milestones along the road of life that can lead to gloom and depression for some: turning 30, child's first day of school, turning 40, child becoming a teenager! As you can see, I couldn't think of many bigger than this one. However, as with everything in life, it's a matter of perspective. What is God up to today?

Well, God has blessed us with an amazing 13 year old. He is handsome, funny, outgoing, talented, athletic, and he loves his mom and dad. I know what God is up to today...he is making a man. While Luke will always be our little boy, God has entrusted our marriage to mold a little boy into a man. And today is a big milestone. One that we are excited to be a part of...

Happy Birthday, Luke!
